The polestar B-1 Concept was initially created as a design sprint for the annual Polestar design challenge and later came to serve as a 3D moddeling exercise in Blender 3D, a study in visual storytelling and 3D animation.
The sprint began by translating core visual cues from the Polestar design language and applying them to the question, what if polestar made a public transportation vehicle?
The initial outcome was developed as a 2D illustration
The project was created as a response to the polestar design challenge, which asked to interpret the word "Progress"
The next step was to craft a story. The inspiration was taken from the commercial "Made by people"
What i adore about the story is how the creator take us thru a dark Sweden which is about to wake up and start the day. The story really shows us the beauty in all of the small details that make up everyday life.
A new original story, made to fit in the same universe as together we make progress
From the story, a visual storyboard was created
The storyboard was brought to a time based media and was paired up with music, sound and moving sketches to get a better sense of the final product.
The large motivation behind this project was to learn the 3D program blender in greater detail and find time to try out somethig new.
The development of the scene took many iterations and constant reworks, but slowly the vision was translated to more refined stage.
